Circular Transformation: Designing Business Models for Durability, Reuse, Remanufacturing and Recycling

May 18, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Industries and businesses have set ambitious sustainability targets for the next 10-20 years compelling companies to reuse and recycle in more efficient and innovative ways, rather than using raw materials.

A circular economy retains the value of products or resources by putting them back into the product cycle after use and enhancing waste management. Yet, a recent Bain & Company Survey found that 60% of active circularity initiatives have not reached scale. Stakeholders need to come together to build the operating system for the circular economy, find new forms of collaboration and follow the footsteps of industry innovators.

Join BAB and our expert panel as we explore how the circular transition compels a shift in business models, investment patterns, and economic incentives. We will look at what infrastructure is available to support this and how these shifts and new technologies can better position organizations to prosper and unlock productivity while contributing to sustainable growth.

The discussion will explore;
  • Harnessing waste as a source of energy: what opportunities are available to recover valuable resources from waste, reducing the need for new raw materials and saving energy.
  • Circular economy development: Visualizing new business models and collaborations to expand opportunities in waste reduction, reuse and recycling
  • Increased efficiency and cost savings: what improvements can reduce the environmental impact of waste and help companies save costs by reducing their waste disposal feeds.
  • Economic & behavioural challenges: what impact does investment patterns and economic incentives have on companies, governments and the consumer and how do we change our mindset.

BAB’s Corporate Citizenship & Sustainability Series is a bespoke series of roundtables and business briefings covering critical Environmental, Societal and Governance (ESG) issues in business and private sector-led initiatives in support of COP, the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This series provides a platform to stimulate debate and conversation amongst business leaders, relevant policy makers and stakeholders to advance the guiding principles of  COP26 for the U.S.-UK transatlantic corridor.
