Future faces: Building the mindset for Resilience and Overcoming Adversity with Charlie Fogarty MBE + MAAC

June 9, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

June 9, 2022
5:30 – 7:30 PM GMT

Charlie Fogarty MBE and critical care paramedic Dan are the speakers for this incredible event hosted by our patrons Midlands Air Ambulance Charity (MAAC). The theme will be surrounding resilience, how both speakers use their mindset techniques to battle in the face of adversity. They show you how can use these techniques in your day to day and professional lives.

Speakers:

Charlie Fogarty MBE

Charlie Fogarty MBE, suffered a severe brain injury after being hit by an overtaking car whilst crossing the road. Following the accident Charlie was rushed to Birmingham Children’s hospital, placed in an induced coma and spent 11 uncertain days in intensive care. He then was transferred on to a Neuro ward where he spent the next four months in the early stages of recovery. Charlie completed a six-month rehabilitation programme in Surrey Children’s trust where he learned to eat, walk and talk. He finally returned home in February 2013.

Charlie started playing football for the West Midlands Centre of Excellence Cerebral Palsy team in July 2013 and was selected for the Northern Ireland CP team in January 2015. Charlie has since travelled to Denmark to play in the Intercontinental CP Championships and has also played in two CP World Cups, in England and Argentina.

Charlie’s determination in his battle back to fitness and to inspire others earned him an MBE in the recent Honours List.

Daniel Fletcher, critical care paramedic, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity (MAAC)

Dan has been a paramedic for nearly 12 years now and been with MAAC for 3 years.

Being a Critical Care Paramedic requires the skills to perform rapid, lifesaving interventions at the scene of an incident. Dealing with the mostly critically ill of patients each day requires resilience, yet whilst  it is extremely challenging, Dan  also finds its greatly rewarding.

He feels privileged to work in a team who give 100% in everything they do to ensure they provide the best care they can every day. By striving to be the best this means MAAC are constantly exploring new treatments and ways of developing the service to meet the ever changing needs of the critically unwell.
