Sustainable Business Series: The Financial Case for Net Zero and Sustainability

October 18, 2023 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am

Introducing sustainable measures to your organisation is often considered an expense that many businesses cannot afford. Data from the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, Sustainability and Business Insights Report highlight how Cost (55%) and Economic Conditions (38%) are two of the most cites barriers to achieving Net Zero. Indeed, it is vitally important that businesses understand that the benefits associated with achieving Net Zero outweigh the costs.

As highlighted in the Skidmore Review, Net Zero is the growth opportunity of the 21st century. The review makes clear, that the benefits of investing in Net Zero today, outweighs the costs. Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) analysis suggests in their delayed action scenario that the level of public sector debt could be 23% higher than in their early action scenario by 2050. Indeed, the financial case for Net Zero and sustainability is continuing to grow.
