From climate change to attracting and retaining a new more socially minded generation of employees – recent events have brought exploring and articulating businesses’ wider role in society, higher up many board and exec agendas.
This quarterly forum for GBCC members explores how businesses are tackling this subject and why: the tangible business benefits to doing so. Each event includes a panel consisting of; a business case study, a professional advisor and a representative from the public or third sector, sharing their insights and perspectives before a series of roundtable discussions.

Henrietta is CEO of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, she was appointed to the role in April 2021 after 5 years as the GBCC’s Director of Policy & Strategic Relationships .In 2019 she was named as one of Birmingham Live’s Brum 30 Under 30. In 2021 she was awarded an honorary fellowship by University College Birmingham for services to Birmingham.
Michael Watson, Partner and Head of Climate and Sustainability Advisory, Pinsent Masons
Michael leads the climate and sustainability advisory practice at Pinsent Masons which enhances and develops services for clients, manages the firm wide development of skills and expertise and advises the Board in relation to ESG matters. He is a Energy and Infrastructure finance specialist have led and developed the global finance and projects practice prior to taking on this role.
Natalie Webster, Senior Social Sustainability Manager, Kier Construction
Natalie Webster is Senior Social Sustainability Manager for Kier Construction. Her role involves developing the strategy for delivering maximum social value on Kier’s construction contracts and leading the team of local CSR Managers. She is passionate about providing a tailored and positive impact to the communities Kier serves and has a keen interest in the different methodologies of social value calculation. In her previous role at Kier, Natalie was responsible for delivering social value in the East and West Midlands and is excited to be speaking at the Birmingham Good Business Forum.
Rokneddin Shariat, Policy & Governance Manager, Birmingham City Council
Shariat is the Policy and Governance manager at Birmingham City Council and specialises in Social Value. He has been leading the social value development at the Council since 2012 with a 3 year gap as an independent consultant. Previously, Shariat managed the publicly funded business support programmes at the Chamber of Commerce in Birmingham for 10 years.
He is a non exec director at Ashley Community Housing which provides support to refugees and migrants.
